After meeting confident, free-spirited traveller Nicolas Niels Schneider at a party, Marie and her best friend Frankie quickly become infatuated with him. Before long, the three end up in bed together, but Nicolas, whose primary desire is securing a place to stay, provides neither Marie nor Frankie with the deep connection they were hankering after.
