Mar Saez




Mar Sáez (Murcia, 1983) studied Psychology and Audiovisual Communication. Although she worked for the written press for more than six years, she currently devotes all of her energy to professional photography. Simultaneously, she works on personal projects that she uses to try to explore the complexity of identity and biopolitics by attempting to portray, from within herself, the realities that concern her. She has won the LUX Professional Photography Prize twice (2014 and 2015) in the “Documentary” category with projects that tackle the subject of transexuality, whilst collaborating with the magazine Ojo de Pez and various elements of the national media.
Since 2008 she has also taken part in several individual and collective exhibitions in Spain and the USA, in venues such as: the Fernando Pradilla Gallery (Madrid), the Alonso Vidal Gallery (Barcelona) and the Gabarron Foundation Carriage House Center for the Arts (New York), among others.
In 2016 she published her first photo book, Vera and Victoria with the French publishing house André Frère Éditions and also published On Travelling on the Road with Strangers in DÚO A (Phree publishing house), with the writer Miguel Ángel Hernández. She also won the scholarship for the PhotoEspaña Photography Masters.
